Today is the first day of summer.
My freshman year is officially over.

I have to say, my freshman year has been my best year so far, and I truly think it will always be. In no other grade did I learn so much about myself and the world around me. Through reading the Odyssey, I found out what it takes to be a hero and through books like The Natural and Romeo and Juliet, I learned about the downfall of humanity. Between class discussions and essays, I realized how powerful words and a pencil can be. Basically, freshman year has taught be about how influential I can be. How influential I WILL be.

But the magic doesn't die there. Socially, whoa. I have never felt closer to my partner in crime, Ryu, and the bond I establish with Gwen, a South African with an unforgetable laugh :], is incredible.

Freshman year has prepared me to lead an fulfilling life, it really has. Sure, I ended the year as number 3 in class rank, but I couldn't be more happy with the place I am spiritually at right now.

So what does this mean for summer?
Hard work for preparation of my promising future.

Ryu and I are working riduculously hard on our stories. We hope to be bigger than Harry Potter so we can get the money we need to start saving the world. One thing we want to do with our money is buy the rainforest. Can't cut it down now, son! Ahaha. Basically, we're doing what we love so we can turn what we love into a global effort to help humanity. :]

We've become so much better as writers over this year, we're positive we're going to rock the world when our books get published. :]

We're also going to be working really hard at our drawing this summer. We figure once we settle down and know our dream has been realized, we can do a separate manga on the side besides our sequel to Dragonball. Which will hit the world March 31st. In 2046. At 2:03 p.m. [Don't you just love StrongBad?]

On a personal level, I really want to save up money to go to Japan. I'm reading a book called The Japanese Mind, and it's inconceivable how different we Americans are from these people and how easily they are misunderstood. Learning Japanese is another goal for me, now that I have an 'online' teacher persay, and I know innately that going to Japan, meeting the Japanese and learning their culture will provide the emotional growth I crave.

It's not that I hate America, but I want something different. Japan has so much promise for me...
I know my happiness lies in Japan.
I can only explain that with God told me so.
